If you’re looking for the best jobs for digital nomads, you’ve come to the right place. In this article, I’ll tell you about 9 of my favourite jobs you can do remotely and earn decent money. I am very interested in this topic because I am a digital Nomad currently based in Central Asia.
These are all jobs/services I have either done, paid for or know people who have done them.
1. International Trade Consultant
In 2018, I travelled to Guangzhou, China, for the annual trade show. I was looking for new products for my company. My trip might have gone better if I had been more experienced or had a specialist in international trade. Due to my inexperience, I paid too much for materials, taxes, and transportation charges, all because I didn’t know what to buy or how to haggle for reduced prices.

What does an international trade consultant do?
- Helps clients manage export/import trade compliance risk.
- Help clients gain new business partners.
- Helps clients work through the cultural differences that may exist between countries.
Income potential
The average consultant can charge between $100 and $150 per hour. Earnings depend on expertise, experience, network, and dedication to your long-term success. Consultants can earn six figures a year.
This role is ideal for you if you’re seeking a job that lets you work with people worldwide while being your own boss. There is a great demand for this service from start-ups and other small businesses.

2. Traditional Company Roles like Accounting, HR and Admin
Traditional jobs were always done in an office, but this is changing as more and more people look for flexible ways of working.
Companies, especially those in the service industry, were forced by Covid-19 to move their operations online, and this trend is particularly visible within the service industry. The cost reductions from not renting office space were increasingly appealing to businesses.
LinkedIn helped me secure my current employment as a corporate accountant. I updated my profile with my preferences and received a job offer within weeks.
You can travel the world and still have a traditional function and make a fair income, so don’t confine yourself to the usual roles of remote employees.
3. Online Language Teacher
Teaching English online is an excellent opportunity to make money. You don’t need formal training or certification to start—all you need is a love of the language! You can teach English as a second language (ESL) or as a foreign language (EFL).
There are many websites where employers worldwide advertise job opportunities.
4. Travel Blogger

Travel blogging is a great way to make money while on the road. Taking photos and writing about your adventures can be fun. Making money as a travel blogger is possible with affiliate marketing. AdSense or selling your products are other ways to make money.
Affiliate marketing
Affiliate marketing means that you’re paid to promote someone else’s products. This can include anything from hotels to cameras to shoes and more.

Being a photographer is a dream job for digital nomads. You can work from anywhere worldwide. Meaning you can live abroad and travel even more than before. You need your camera and laptop/phone (or tablet).
Why is photography a good career choice for a digital nomad?
Distinctive Images are in high demand everywhere in the world. I use photos all the time. Free images are easy to find and boring to look at. I want my blog post to stand out as a blogger. I’m one of many who want unique and captivating photos.
Consider niches that complement the nomadic lifestyle. Niches like landscapes and wildlife photography. Food and different people groups are exciting niches. Historical places and architecture are also excellent choices.
Boost your chances of success.
- Make sure we can find you by having a great website that is easy to find. A social media profile is vital. Showcase your stunning images for all to see. There were 1.9 billion websites and 600 million bloggers as of 2022. We’re going to need more images.
- Pick a niche that only requires a little equipment because you want to move around quickly.
- Prevent theft or unauthorised use of your photos by licencing them.
- Vlog your photographic adventures around the world using platforms like YouTube and Instagram.

Try your hand at starting a business that you may do on the side or as your primary source of income.
There will always be a demand for businesses. People will always want to buy things and use services. The bad news-it’s not easy money; it will need effort before you see any profit. I know this from personal experience.
To have a successful online business, you need to let people know about it. You can do this by advertising it on social media sites like Facebook Ads or Google AdWords.
Set up a business like Amazon FBA, which takes care of all the logistics for a fee. It takes some time to get everything set up, but once it is, you should be able to start making money.
8. Social Media Specialist
If you like being on the cutting edge of technology, a job as a social media specialist might be perfect for you. You will manage a company’s social media. How do I get this job?
The best part about becoming one is that it doesn’t need formal training.
For training, plenty of online courses are available through sites like Udemy.
What are the benefits of working as a Social Media Specialist?
The global demand is expanding. While many people appear excellent at posting, others find it overwhelming. I get anxious when I go on Instagram. As a result, I’ll gladly hire someone else to manage all social media tasks. This is not unique to me.
9. Be a Translator

Translation services is a career that’s been around for a long time. It is one of the most in-demand services in the world.
Living where almost no one speaks English has made me appreciate translators.
Being a translator is simple. You need to be fluent in two or more languages. You should also be able to translate between languages without affecting the meaning. A good living is possible for those willing to put in the time. Earnings per hour might range from $50 to $100 or more.
Working as a translator from anywhere worldwide makes it a perfect job for digital nomads.
The translation industry is massive, so research companies like Statista state that the global translation market is expected to be worth $57.7 billion in 2021. And it’s expanding quickly, with a 10% annual growth rate.
Translation assignments can be obtained on freelance websites such as Upwork and specialist websites such as ProZ.
