Here is a list of the 20 most affordable tropical digital nomad visa countries. As a nomad based in Central Asia, the sub-zero temperatures make me wish for warmer climates.
So, I made a list of the 20 cheapest countries to live in. Every country on my list is in the tropics and have launched its digital nomad visa program for people who prefer to be location independent, aka Remote worker.
These places were chosen for their unique life benefits, such as fabulous cuisine, sun, sea, and sand, and
It is less expensive than you think to live and work in paradise.
These are my favourite three.
But I invite you to review the list and see if any more excites you.
Every one of the twenty countries has a cosmopolitan community and welcoming locals. They all have great places to congregate for social or professional objectives and great amenities to assist adventurous and creative spirits like you.
Before I get ahead of myself, let’s start at the beginning.
What is a Digital Nomad Visa?
With a digital nomad visa, people who work from home can live in a different country. It is a temporary permit to live in the country for six months to two years.
To be a remote worker, you must be an employee of a company that lets you work from home or own a business outside the country you want to move to.
There are currently around 50 countries offering Nomad Visas. Each has different requirements and benefits.
Some have fast internet, co-working spaces, and excellent healthcare facilities.
I’ll point out the countries where these facilities need to be improved so that you can make other plans.
What’s in it for the host countries?
These visas are new and are becoming increasingly popular, thanks in part to Covid-19 and the rise of remote working.
Digital nomads contribute to the growth of the host country’s economy. The Digital Nomad Visa Scheme encourages tourists to remain longer, which means they spend more money.
While living and earning £1000 per month in the UK will not go very far, you can live like a king in most of these lower-cost countries for the same amount.
Before reading this guide on how to live cheaply in paradise, you should know a few things.
Since this blog is about saving money, I started with the least expensive places to live and worked my way up to the most costly.
These prices are based on what a single person spends each month on housing, food, transportation, and utilities.
Essentials for the Digital Nomad
High-Speed Internet
The more Mbps (megabits per second) you have, the faster you can work
online. For example, you can download files and browse quicker. Conference calls stay put, and streaming services run smoothly.
I am based in Bishkek, Central Asia, so I understand the importance of quick and dependable internet. I have links for you to check the internet and mobile speeds.
Mobile Phone Connectivity
Most countries on my list have reliable mobile phone coverage, so there is nothing to worry about here.
Co-Working Spaces
The idea of co-working spaces is new but essential. Being a digital nomad gets lonely, and a co-working environment can help alleviate loneliness and boredom. You can connect with like-minded people. Some countries already have these, and they are working on getting more of them out there. I’ve put in information about these basic needs.
